Synopsis

What if you had everything in the world you wanted…except the man you’d left behind?

Jackson Davenport, the charismatic, strait-laced heir to the Davenport fortune, has a secret. One he’s been hiding since he graduated from South Haven all-boys academy—and that secret’s name is Lucas.

When a work trip takes Jackson back to his old stomping grounds, memories of the year he shared with Lucas come crashing to the surface. With growing pressure from his father to settle down and take over the family business, Jackson knows he’s on borrowed time, and sets out to find the free-spirited daredevil he once knew.

But Lucas isn’t the same man he was eight years ago.

One night. A shattered heart. And an endless parade of nameless faces. Lucas Sullivan is South Haven’s ultimate playboy, a reputation he’s honed since the only boy he ever loved left without a trace. To the world, he’s brash and confident, an in-demand artist who spends his days designing one-of-a-kind pieces and his nights as king of the downtown scene.

Many have tried and failed to get past the barrier he’s carefully constructed, but it’s the shy, studious boy he once coaxed out of his shell who still haunts him.

Maybe it was a mistake. Maybe it was lust. Or maybe…it was a little bit like love.

Review

This book was a win/win for me! I love second chance love stories and I love Brooke Blaine's books!

Jackson Davenport appears to have all anyone could ask for; looks, money, a powerful family name. Jackson is successful and works for his father and has a beautiful girlfriend. Jackson is happy, maybe content is a better word. Has Jackson ever really been happy since high school, since Lucas?

Lucas Sullivan, artist, sex God, the ultimate playboy! Lucas has the small beach town of South Haven at his feet. He's living the dream and has a new man on his arm every night. Lucas has two best friends, but no one that he really lets in. Lucas may sleep with many, but he's intimate with none. Lucas had his heart broken in high school, he's not willing to risk his heart again.

Jackson has returned to South Haven after eight years, returned to the small town where he left his heart. Lucas is not the boy he left behind, he's closed off, he's angry. These two have so many secrets between them, so much keeping them apart. The one thing that keeps bringing them back to each other though, sure feels a little bit like love.

Can the person you fall in love with at 18 be your forever? Can you get past all the hurt and find forgiveness? That's what's second chances are for! Lucas and Jackson steal your heart, you ache for them and you cheer for them! I loved this book and so highly recommend it!
