It was only a week ago that William packed his bags for Oxford when a letter appeared in front of him in a blaze of purple fire before slowly descending like a feather riding the wind. He had plans to work in politics, to make the world a better place, to put all those top grades from high school to good use but none of that mattered to him anymore. William told everyone that he was off to Harvard instead, knowing that his British parents wouldn’t make the journey to visit him, and he headed for the portal disclosed to him in the letter.
Magic was real and William had a chance to spend the next three years studying it. He couldn’t let that opportunity pass him by, even if it meant giving up on what was surely a carved out future for the overachieving eighteen-year-old.
His fingers clutched the crumpled letter in his pocket as he began to tug, fighting the tightness of his jacket to free himself so that he could see which hall he belonged to. He yanked so hard that his hand flew back, ricocheting outwards until it met the person next to him.
“Sorry!” He called out in a panic, turning to apologize so fast that his glasses flung from his face and vanished into the crowd. “Dammit!” He added in a hiss of frustration, quickly tucking his wavy brown hair back behind his ears before it sprung free.
He was hardly the most graceful eighteen-year-old to have ever existed, nor did he do well in large groups that rushed around him. William preferred the quiet life, often opting for a cup of tea as he tucked himself into a blanket with his favorite book spread across his palm. He thought that Warlock Academy would be full of intellects like himself who would rather ingest wisdom than booze.
He was wrong.

EXCERPT
Jake roared whilst envisioning William’s face, pinning Alaric’s hands above his head and ramming his cock down the man’s throat as he bounced off the headboard. Jake was kneeling up, his shaft in Alaric’s mouth and his body dripping with sweat. Alaric was fully clothed, somewhere between lying down and sitting against the head of the bed, his skull being bashed by Jake who showed him no mercy with his thick eight-inches. How long are they going to fucking keep me in here? Jake wondered as he turned his head towards the marks he’d scratched into his bedroom wall as if he were in prison. Today marked one month and four days since he’d attacked William and whilst his body had managed to heal, he was beginning to lose his mind. “Jake, your homework!” Alaric pulled away, gasping as a mixture of his saliva and Jake’s pre-cum dribbled down his chin. The man had only turned up looking for Jake’s assignment, but what was happening between them now had happened at least seven times and whilst Alaric liked to pretend he wasn’t into being used, nothing could stop him from taking Jake’s cock on demand. He knew it was wrong, but that just made it feel so right. “Just give me a pass,” Jake said, reaching down for his shaft and pushing it back inside Alaric’s mouth. “And I told you, don’t fucking speak!”

 Review

There’s no doubt in my mind TC Orton has so much creativity and talent. I love the worlds he creates.

As you can tell from the title this book takes place in an academy for warlock. William, I’d say is the main character here and by making himself known on the first day rather spectacularly, it sets the tone.

There are other characters in this tale as well. A horrible bully named Jake who we pop into his head a few times.

It’s a fantastical world of very colorful characters. There was a bit of a Harry Potter feel to it.

It’s written in the omniscient POV and though I was thrust into the magic and mayhem, I hit too many walls in the writing style. Third person is okay, I usually have no trouble understanding it but I had trouble here.  It was awkward at times and too often I didn’t know whose head I was in. After I’d find out I would have to go back and reread. That stilted my reading.

It was highly entertaining and exciting. Jake is really the only character I never grew to like. So, yeah, I had some issues with this but I was entertained!
